Triumphal Arch in the Forum

The Roman Forum was the religious, political and commercial center of ancient Rome. The sizeable ruins -many arches and temples- are found by the Palatine Hill. The Colosseum is found at the edge of this area. The Colosseum was built in five years. This well-preserved amphitheatre seated 80,000 who watched gladiator combat and man vs. beast fights. The floor of the Colosseum is gone, revealing the rooms below where the animals and fighters were held. Today, gladiators wait outside to pose for pictures with you (for a fee, obviously).
